Psychotherapy is like walking into a forest, it's a bit scary and unknown, but there is so much beauty and wisdom to be discovered there.
Are you feeling overwhelmed by parenthood?
Do you identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, transgender or non-binary?
Is your romantic partnership(s) not as thriving and alive as you would like it to be?
Have you noticed yourself repeating the same unhealthy patterns over and over again?
I am a licensed clinical psychologist offering psychotherapy for adults, adolescents, couples, and infant-parent dyads. I approach my work from a psychodynamic, social/racial justice and queer feminist lens. I believe our childhood experiences and attachment relationships with our caregivers, in combination with our various social identity markers, shape us into the adults we grow up to become. I seek to understand each person’s unique life circumstances and experiences so I can best support them in their process of healing and growth. It is my belief that through the intimate, professional therapeutic relationship that is formed between client and therapist, the client is able to experience themselves in new and different ways and carry those experiences with them into their larger social world. We will examine and explore relationship patterns that emerge between us in order to better understand your relationships outside the therapy room.
I work with people on a variety of issues including parenting, pregnancy, sexuality, gender identity, depression, anxiety, relationship dynamics, life transitions and others. My areas of specialty and passion include: pregnancy and parenting support, early childhood and infant mental health, lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, transgender and non-binary identities, and Spanish-speaking immigrants. Underlying my work as a psychotherapist is a deep commitment to interrupting the intergenerational transmission of trauma and oppression.
